In the past the role of the Vice President has been a somewhat symbolic one. This Vice President aims to change all that. Her many passions include the environment, jobs and much-needed Senate reform. But despite these grand ambitions, or perhaps because of them, Selina Meyer remains very much a people person. Her mantra is "politics is about people" and she hopes to bring people closer to politics and politics closer to people. She's even given herself an informal nickname - Veep - to underline her approachability. She hopes it catches on! As she says, "I'd like to be remembered as the People's Vice President."

Amy describes herself as "the Vice President's trouble-shooter, problem-solver, issue-mediator, doubt-remover, conscience-examiner, thought-thinker and all-round everything-doer." But she's keen to point out that when she's doing her job well no one knows that she's doing it all because the role is largely anonymous. Amy says, "To some the anonymity makes the job seem thankless and soul-destroying but I welcome it, I really do."

Gary, like Mike McLintock, is another long-time loyal associate of Selina Meyer's and has been her assistant now for "a lot of years." Informally known as the "Body Man," Gary goes wherever Selina goes and carries everything she could ever need - newspapers, magazines, make-up, hairspray, and sweeteners. Gary plays a "vital role" in the Selina's day to day life. "What you see is the swan, what I'm carrying is her two big, very busy webbed legs and feet."

Mike is a stalwart of the political communications scene and first began working for Selina when she was Senator for Maryland. As he puts it - "I've been with Selina now for longer than I care to remember. In fact, longer than I can actually remember!" He helped mastermind her Presidential campaign to a very creditable third place - a campaign of which he is rightfully proud. He describes himself as, "a regular guy, a sports fan, a dog lover and basically just a guy - just a pretty average guy."

Sue coordinates Selina's diary, scheduling all her meetings and visits; she also acts as her "gatekeeper." As Sue puts it: "The Vice President is the second most important person in the world. I arrange for you to see her. So, in my eyes, that makes me the third most important person in the world. So you better be nice to me. Or you won't get to see her. And if you do get to see her, you better be nice to her. Or you won't get to see her again. The Vice President may forget but I hold a grudge. And my grudges are nasty." Her straight-talking, no-nonsense approach has won her many admirers.

Described adoringly by Dan as "the Pol Pot of pie charts," Kent Davidson is a numbers-cruncher "who can't take a leak without polling his balls." Selina still holds a grudge against him for forcing her to hang out with her ex-husband to make them look like a normal, loving family during the election. Kent is often accused of being cold and robotic, but defends his role as such: "All I do is provide POTUS with the polls. Cold numbers." 

Jonah is, in a way, an honorary member of Selina's team - although, as he is keen to point out, he actually works for The White House. As Amy puts it: "You always know when Jonah's in the office - he totally changes the atmosphere. He just hits the place like a tornado." Jonah says, "I'm a conduit between the President and the Vice President and it's tremendously exciting for me to have been given such a vital role at such a young age. When I stop to think about it, it literally blows my mind. I think pretty much everyone in DC must be jealous of me. But I'm trying not to get too big-headed about my success. I'm just working hard, doing my thing for the President." He describes himself as, "the go-to guy for all things White House."

Dan describes himself as, "a dynamic team player who loves a challenge." He enjoys working with Mike and says, "getting to study him at close quarters is a revelation," adding, "he is literally SO easy to learn from." Dan's core focus is new media but he imagines the role "will very rapidly expand beyond that narrow remit to encompass many other new and exciting horizons." He believes his extensive contacts and supreme networking skills will pay dividends in the near future. "Without wishing to sound boastful, I'm Selina's secret weapon."

Ben is Selina's sensitive and sometimes depressed Chief of Staff. His one wish is to be cryogenically suspended, but to "never wake up...just stay suspended." When things get overwhelming, Ben has a tendency to hide in a supply closet and realign himself. What he loves most in this world is his nine-cup coffee thermos - "It's the only thing I'd save if this building were on fire." Despite being a little high-strung, Ben can be very insightful: "We all know the White House would work so much better if there wasn't a President, but there is, so we work around that."
