Freelance reporter L.P. Everett arrives back in New Orleans investigating a tip on a new story but finds unfinished business with an old one.

Nelson Hidalgo came to New Orleans to make money on the city's rebuilding efforts.  Having accomplished exactly that, Nelson has his sights set on his next business venture in his home state of Texas, but not before cashing out his dealings in New Orleans.

Sofia is the only child of Toni and Creighton Bernette.

Delmond is Albert's son and a jazz trumpeter who lives in New York.

A college professor and aspiring novelist, Creighton Bernette came to New Orleans and fell in love with the city. He met and married his wife Toni and raised their daughter Sofia to appreciate the city's history and culture.  

A widowed single mother with a passion for music and justice, attorney Toni Bernette spends her time defending the rights of musicians and investigating suspicious killings, many of which are law enforcement related, in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

Sonny, a street musician from Amsterdam, dreamed of moving to New Orleans and living the musician life.  

Annie T and her band Bayou Cadillac are making a name for themselves on the road. Ready to take her career to the next level, Annie remains focused on her music, determined to do it her way.

A homicide detective with the NOPD, Terry Colson is also a good friend of Toni Bernette's.

Big Chief of the Guardians of the Flame, Albert Lambreaux left New Orleans after the storm, but returned to rebuild his home against the initial wishes of his children, Davina, Delmond and Cheri.
