Join JG Quintel, creator of the Emmy Award-winning “Regular Show” for a panel and table read for his new HBO Max series “Close Enough,” a surreal animated comedy about a married couple, their five-year-old daughter, and their two divorced best friends/roommates all living together on the east-side of Los Angeles. Jason Mantzoukas (Alex), Gabrielle Walsh (Emily), Kimiko Glenn (Bridgette) and Jessica DiCicco (Candice) will join Quintel (Josh) and Calvin Wong (supervising producer) and moderator William Salyers (“Regular Show”) to discuss the show’s themes of navigating the transitional 30’s, juggling work and kids, and pursuing your dreams, while avoiding time-traveling snails, stripper clowns and murderous mannequins. Cartoon Network Studios’ “Close Enough” is now streaming on HBO Max.

Starring

Josh headshot

JOSH

Josh is a husband, father, and future world-famous video-game designer. Although with games like “Ladder World” and “Clap Like This,” that won’t be happening anytime soon. His soul-deadening day job is at the TV-installation company Plugger-Inners, but with his golden retriever–like attitude, he remains eager and optimistic.

Emily headshot

EMILY

Emily is logical, organized, a planner—everything her husband Josh is not. She’s a loving mother and a strong working woman who tries to have it all. Emily works as an assistant at FoodCorp, a boring job even by processed-food conglomerate standards. In her spare time, of which there is little, she performs comedy-rock songs with her friend Bridgette.

Candice headshot

CANDICE

Candice is Josh and Emily’s daughter. She’s five years old but reads at a four-year-old level. What she lacks in brainpower, she makes up for in heart. She loves being with everyone in the apartment, and thinks kids who live with only their mom and dad and not also a whole other divorced couple are really missing out.

Alex headshot

ALEX

Alex is Josh’s neurotic best friend from high school. He lives in the walk-in closet of the apartment he shares with Josh, Emily, Candice, and Bridgette (his ex-wife, but it’s not a big deal). Alex dreams of being a famous author but currently scrapes by as a community college professor. The only thing he enjoys more than proving he’s right is proving other people are wrong.

Bridgette headshot

BRIDGETTE

Bridgette is a glamorous social media influencer—at least in her mind. She doesn’t have a steady job. “Working” is more of a hobby she squeezes in between partying. Her comedy-rock act with Emily hasn’t hit the big time yet, but she’s still got #swaggerfordays.

Pearle headshot

PEARLE

Pearle is a retired LAPD officer and the owner of the apartment building in which our gang lives. She has a cop’s fondness for gallows humor, chuckling at violent memories most people would find disturbing. Despite her grandmotherly demeanor, Pearle is ready to kick ass at a moment’s notice.

Randy headshot

RANDY

Randy is Pearle’s adopted, shirtless son. He lives in the backhouse above the garage and is the property manager. Unfortunately, he’s not very handy. He beats himself up over every minor mistake because he’s so eager to prove himself to Pearle.
