The Thick of It

Episode 1

Junior Policy Advisor Ollie Reeder finds himself the butt of all jokes after a one-night stand with his Opposition Shadow researcher. Hugh Abbot's ministerial visit to a factory goes horrendously wrong. Only Malcolm can help, but will he?

Episode 2

Malcolm makes things difficult when an outside adviser arrives to inspect all the departments, and enlists his colleagues' help in getting rid of him. Meanwhile, Hugh is upset to discover that everybody is aware the Prime Minister's wife does not like him - a blow to his plans for a policy announcement that will impress her husband.

Episode 3

In the midst of a chaotic office move, Hugh accidentally sends an expletive-littered email to an eight-year-old girl leading to a front page story in the national papers. His day quickly goes from bad to worse when he also 'accidentally' lies in front of the Education Select Committee, leaving Malcom to clean up the fallout.

The Rise of the Nutters

In The Rise of Nutters, something goes terribly wrong on BBC2's Newsnight and everything begins to unravel for Malcolm Tucker as enemies in the Government and the Opposition both make bids for power.

Spinners and Losers

The Prime Minister resigns six months early and all hell breaks loose at Number 10. Malcolm Tucker's political career hangs in the balance. He has seventeen hours to spin himself back into power, and it's going to be the longest night of his life.

Episode 1

It's reshuffle day at Number 10, and Nicola Murray is so far down the list of prospective ministers that Malcolm Tucker doesn't even have a file on her. But when the job at the Department of Social Affairs and Citizenship is turned down by everybody else, there's no option but to promote her to the Cabinet.

Episode 2

Nicola Murray MP has only been secretary of state for just over a week, but already there is press speculation on how long she will last. And now someone at the Department of Social Affairs and Citizenship has completely wiped the immigration records of 170,672 people. Who's going to get the blame?

Episode 3

Nicola Murray is stuck in an Eastbourne hotel bedroom with nothing but a laptop, a printer and a tiny kettle while she and Olly try to finish her speech for the annual party conference. It's not going well.

Episode 4

The civil servants at DoSAC are preparing for a visit from the shadow minister Peter Mannion. For Mannion and his team, this informal pre-election briefing is a good opportunity.

Episode 5

After weeks of trading bitter blows in the press, DoSAC minister Nicola Murray MP and her shadow Peter Mannion MP are invited onto BBC Radio 5Live for a debate on Richard Bacon's late-night phone-in program.

Episode 6

With the Prime Minister away at a summit in Spain, Malcolm Tucker is left at home to mind the shop. Just as Nicola Murray is about to launch her initiative to the media, the media decide that what they really want is someone to launch another leadership contest.

Episode 7

Nicola Murray and her team are desperate to find a major sports personality to be the face of DoSAC's new Healthy Choices campaign. Malcolm's away on holiday and doesn't want to be disturbed, so they take advice from Steve Fleming.

Episode 8

As the election looms and the Opposition eye the prize, the word around the Westminster Village is that Malcolm Tucker is running out of both options and friends.

Episode 1

Peter Mannion, the Secretary of State for Social Affairs, gets told to launch his Coalition partner Fergus's new "Networked Nation" policy at a school. Peter doesn't even know how to right-click a mouse and would rather be celebrating his wedding anniversary, but Stewart Pearson won't hear otherwise.

Episode 2

With Glenn gone, Nicola Murray is busy breaking in her new policy advisor, Helen Hatley. When Helen is accidentally photographed holding notes from an ideas meeting, Nicola is understandably angry.

Episode 3

Stewart Pearson is running a "Thought Camp" at a remote country house hotel as the perfect way to re-engage the party with the creative cloudscape. No phones, no iPads. Peter Mannion can definitely think of better ways of spending the Easter weekend than 'imagineering' with Stewart, Emma and a bunch of back-benchers and party workers.

Episode 4

With Nicola safely on a train to attend the party's Here 2 Hear in far-flung Bradford, Malcolm is free to launch his latest plot. But how is Olly going to be able to help, given that he's in the hospital with a burst appendix? And what will be Ben Swain's price for playing along with the scheme?

Episode 5

With Nicola Murray and Peter Mannion both on the back foot, there's a scramble for the moral high-ground while the smelly floodwater of scandal is lapping at their toes. Everyone wants to spin the story, and everyone wants their own version of the story out there. But as more and more fingers get pointed, the bigger the scandal becomes, finally threatening to implicate everybody.

Episode 6

Everyone has a lot of questions to answer about the suicide of a worker after his flat was sold off - Government, Opposition and Civil Service alike. Lord Goolding is reputedly a fair man, but he isn't going to stand for any nonsense - and neither is his team of expert inquisitors.

Episode 7

The final reckoning. Every dog has its day, but as the fallout from the inquiry starts to take its toll, the everyday problems of government continue unabated. Despite the fact that no one is actually talking to each other any more.
