In 1942, the U.S. government chose St. Louis, MO as a processing center of uranium for the first atomic bombs. The radioactive waste from this processing was eventually dumped into the West Lake Landfill. Until recently, many nearby residents were unaware that the waste had become a ticking time bomb. Now, two communities try to get answers and, hopefully, solutions.
